Vicious Spring. ~ Kasira Mortis

The prompt:

Use these words in a story: Include these words to write the story Vicious Spring.

Daisy, heat, tendril, meander, painful, stone, bubble, stalk, meat, swallow.

The spring was supposed to be beautiful, not painful. It was supposed to be a nice temperature, not this killer heat that made it feel like your face would melt off. Daisy looked up the stone path and took a deep breath. She could feel herself swallow; it felt as if her spit traveled all the way down to her stomach. The meander of the path was dark and creepy. Daisy slowly looked at her feet. She should be moving the other way, running as fast as she can. She willed her feet to work, but it was as if the vine tendrils were holding her feet down. Then, as if her brain finally connected, her feet started moving. Faster and faster running down the path. Daisy happened to look to her left, where a wolf was standing. It made her run faster. After a while, she stopped to listen; she couldn’t hear the man who had stalked her into the forest in the first place. He had looked at her as if she were a piece of meat he could devour. She started running again; this path had to lead somewhere. She saw a river, the water was full of rapids, but there was a house on the other side. If she could just get across, she could get help. Daisy took a step into the water; it was freezing, but she pushed through. The water was strong, but she trudged on. She was halfway across when her foot slipped. Daisy fell, her head hit a rock. She would definitely feel that later. She got back on her feet and slowly took a few more steps. There wasn’t much farther for her to go. Daisy stepped right into a hole she could feel her ankle snap. She fell, hitting her head again. This time, she didn’t feel anything; her last breath bubbled to the surface.

The House. ~ Kasira Mortis

The prompt: When people say country estate, it sounds really grand, but looking at it now, I realize our house is….
When people say country estate, it sounds really grand, but looking at it now, I realize this house is most definitely haunted. As I looked up at the house and noticed the boarded-up windows and doors and the peeling paint, this is not at all what I expected from my granddad after he died. I let out a big sigh and started walking up the beaten path, or what I can only guess was a path. I walked up to the door and pulled out the key in my pocket, but it looked like I could just hit it slightly, and it would open. I tried the doorknob anyway, and it was locked, so I slid the key in and turned the knob. The door opened, and it was too dark to see any details, so I slowly ran my hand down the wall until I could find the light switch. My fingers ran across one. I flipped it up, and to my surprise, the inside looks nothing like the outside. It was as if it were magic, like I walked into a portal, taking me into what the house looked like years ago. There was a big old chandelier at the end of the hall, and a big grand staircase at the top of it, which is a young picture of my granddad. Maybe living here won’t be so bad.

Keisha. ~ Kasira Mortis

The prompts: Describe a person in two ways. First, make us fall in love with them. Second, make us hate them.

Sammy looked at Keisha she looked over her features her beautiful long blonde hair that cascaded all the way down her back looked like it was literal sunshine. her eyes were so blue it was like the sky was caught in them. See Sammy had previous knowledge of what Keisha was like in school she was the kindest girl if anybody was getting bullied she'd stick up for them. if they were having a bad day she would cheer them up. her smile was contagious. her body wasn't thin nor was she bigger she was average She never Seamed to have any insecurities no one hated her everyone basically wanted to be her many teachers would say that they wish there were more of her in the world because it would make the world a better place but oh were they wrong. One day Sammy was walking home from school she noticed Keisha was walking all by herself so she decided to catch up to her to walk with her. at the time Sammy didn't realize that this would be her downfall this would lead to something she couldn't come back from. the next thing she knew Sammy was waking up on the basement floor standing above her was Keisha how long blonde hair tied up in a messy bun with red splattered all throughout it those blue eyes staring into her soul like she was some piece of meat terrified her. the things that Keisha was saying definitely weren't words she'd ever heard before come out of someone so sweet. And that smile will forever haunt her nightmares it was so sickly sweet that she never saw the ax coming.

Healing. ~ Kasira Mortis

The prompt. I thought healing would feel like sunlight.......

I thought healing would feel like sunlight.... Instead, it feels like a sunburn. A slow burn of fire on tender skin, forcing me to lose sleep due to uncomfortable pain and thoughts that this is what life will be like for the unforeseeable future. I try to aid the pain and suffering with aloe, and at first, it's a relief I didn't know I needed. Then a quiet sting that reminds me that the damage runs deeper than the skin. After a while I have to shed the parts of myself I thought I couldn't live without, leaving me raw, unrecognizable, and unsure if I've healed at all. Until I realize the sting is gone. The tenderness has faded, and in its place is new skin, stronger and softer, ready to feel the sunlight again.

Families are a pain. ~ Kasira Mortis

The prompt: Families are a pain, even when you’re the Chosen One.

My mother says that after the last stunt, she’ll ground me if I leave the state again. I couldn’t help it I had to go to California. I had to save Aiden from the Magic Guard. They were going to kill him for knowing too much. It’s my fault that he knows. It's not easy Being the Chosen One, I’m like freaking Harry Potter. Except Lord Voldemort didn’t try to kill me or my parents, Oh and I’m real. The books have it all wrong. That’s because they were written by a lady who has no clue what really happens in the magic world. I don’t get to go to a magic school or compete in a tournament of the best witches and wizards. We have lots of rules that are enforced by the Magic Guard, like the number one rule: non-magic people CAN NOT know about magic. Kinda like Fight Club… you don’t talk about Fight Club; you don’t tell anyone your magic. That’s exactly what I did I broke the Number One rule. I talked about Fight Club, I almost got Aiden killed. That’s why I had to go save him, it’s my fault they took him. Okay, let’s start at the beginning Aiden has been my best friend since the 5th grade. His brother Eithan pushed me down while we were at recess. Aiden came over and helped me up and apologized for what his brother did. We have been friends ever since. When I turned 16, I started to get my magic. My mom knew that I would be magic because she was when she was younger. She gave up her magic to marry my dad. That’s the only way you can marry a non-magic (rule number one). This whole-time dad had no clue magic was real, it was a bit of a surprise for him when I got my magic. Apparently, there are small exceptions to rule Number One, parents can know, but not best friends. I was being really careful; I wouldn’t use my magic around Aiden. I honestly didn’t use it that much anyway. They really took the fun out of it with rule Number Two: No using magic to Hurt, Mame, or Kill. and rule Number Three: no making money randomly appear. Other than that, you are really kinda free to do whatever. One day I had a really bad day at school and my parents weren’t home, so I was using my magic Mitildia style making my snack with stuff flying around the room. That’s when Aiden walked in and caught me with all sorts of food levitating in the air, so I had to tell him. He was surprisingly chill about the whole thing. I thought that no harm was done. The Guard didn’t have to know that he knew. Boy was I wrong. I should have known that the Guard knew, They knew everything. A few days after Aiden had found out we were sitting in my room doing homework, when three people in long dark cloaks appeared. They grabbed Aiden and handed me a scroll and disappeared just as quickly as they had shown up. I opened the scroll and read it. Kasey O’Brien You have broken the number one rule, you have till 12 A.M. on Saturday to be in Oakville, California to defend your case. Failure to do so will result in the death of Aiden Steiner and your magic will be revoked. I threw the scroll down and ran around my room throwing a bunch of clothes and other things in my bag as quickly as I could. I ran down the stairs and stopped just long enough to write a note to my parents. MOM & DAD Ran to California to save Aiden from the Guard. I’ll be home by Monday, Maybe. Love Kasey They were going to be pissed but I had no choice I had to save Aiden. I grabbed my keys and ran out the door. It’s a good thing I filled my gas tank last night. I jumped into my Jeep and took off towards California it was a 28-hour drive straight through from my small town in Iowa. leaving now meant I would have 5 hours to spare but that was if nothing went wrong, and I didn’t have to stop for gas but that all was very unlikely. I pulled into Oakville and got out of my car it was 10:45 pm I had plenty of time to find where the Guard was keeping Aiden. I walked up to a bar; it had a symbol on the door that I recognized. The symbol was three triangles interlocked It was for the Guard. I opened the door and took a step in when this big gust of wind blew the door shut and standing before me were the three guards and Aiden who looked like he just lost a fight. “State your name to the council.” as I turned around, I saw 12 more people in black robes and one of which was wearing a fancy hat, I’m guessing he’s the judge. “Kasey O’Brian” I looked back over at Aiden; he really did not look good. “Kasey, you have broken the most important rule we have. Do you have anything to say?” “Yes, I have thought long and hard on my drive here. I made a mistake letting Aiden know our secret. The only way I feel that this situation can be fixed is if we do a memory eraser spell on Aiden. I must make him forget about magic, but also forget me. That’s what would be safe for all.” I looked back at Aiden again he looked like someone had punched him in the gut. It was the safest way to get him out of here. Aiden is my best friend, he’s more than that I think I love him. If I want him to beagle to live the rest of his life he needs to forget. “That sounds like a great plan, we will give you 15 minutes to say your goodbyes then he will be taken to get his memory erased and you’ll be free to go. After this, you will not be allowed to see him or talk to him ever again.” Suddenly everyone disappeared leaving just me and Aiden. “Why would you say such a crazy thing! I don’t want to forget you! I need you! I love you!” Aiden grabbed my face with his hands. “You love me?” “Yes!” He started to lean in towards me. “Do you love me?” “Yes!” I leaned in and our lips met in the middle. I had dreamed of this for so long who knew it took the threat of death for him to kiss me. All of a sudden, I could no longer feel his lips on mine. I thought he pulled away, but he was gone. The judge was standing in front of me. “You’re free to go now, Miss. Kasey.”

Stargazer - C.C. Bran

I look at the moon, only a small sliver in the distance. Wondering what the first person there really felt. It must have been amazingly magi...
